Let’s talk about these FAST and EASY ways to boost immunity for busy moms!! Because Oh boy- it is NO good when Mom gets sick. Eeek. Not good at all.
The last time I got sick, I think my husband drove 200 miles in one day taking kids to and fro instead of sharing that task with me! And who knows what they all ate and at what times!!
As moms we owe it to ourselves and our family to do all that we can to stay well!
If Mom is healthy and strong, then
- She has the stamina to take care of her family!
- The energy to keep the household running!!
- The ability to do all the mom things!!
But if you ask the moms you know what they do to proactively boost their immunity, so many say something to the effect of…….”umm nothing except hoping I stay well!”
Why is that? Well if you’re a mom- you know why!
(Yes there ARE those moms who are passionate about this and are great at doing all kinds of things to stay well and to get well if they do get sick -so I’m not speaking to that mom right now.)
I’m speaking to the mom who knows taking good care of herself is important BUT…
Oh the BUTs right?
I’m talking to the moms who don’t feel they have the time to sit down and try to figure out the world of health!
Many moms don’t know where to start and don’t even think enough personal thoughts in the day to find out!
For me, for the last 20 years, I’ve LOVED learning about health when I can –in the crazy!
So I want to share 3 hugely effective ways I’ve found to boost immunity!
These are things moms can do QUICKLY and EASILY in the morning.
#1- THE FABULOUS IMMUNE BOOSTING ELDERBERRY SYRUP!!
If you aren’t best friends with elderberry syrup yet, today is the day!
Elderberries have quite a resume of helpful benefits for us to consume! The superfood berries are packed with antioxidants and vitamins which help with all kinds of things from inflammation to fighting cold and flu viruses.
I appreciate that elderry syrup is something I can simply take a teaspoon of everyday! When I do, I’m giving my body antioxidants needed to strengthen my immune system.
I can’t tell you how many times I have felt some type of cold or flu-like virus coming on- a tickle in my throat, runny nose, a small cough and I step up taking the elderberry syrup to 3 times a day, then BOOM. The sick symptoms just disappear before they ever get started.
If you have looked at buying elderberry syrup, you see that it costs about $15 for a 4 ounce bottle. That adds up quickly if you take a teaspoon everyday!
So I recommend just making your own. It is easy peasy and costs considerably less. I just buy these ORGANIC DRIED ELDERBERRIES by the pound and with our family of 7, one pound easily gets us through 3 to 4 months. Smaller families can use a pound of elderberries a whole lot longer!
Anyway, I just make elderberry syrup as needed and then take it every morning. If I feel any symptoms of ANY kind coming on, I take the syrup more often for a couple of days. Simple and SO DOABLE!
Also, no side effects. Can you see why I love elderry syrup?
Here is my favorite recipe posted by wellnessmama:
3½ cups water
2/3 cup dried elderberries (or 1 1/3 cups fresh or frozen)
1 tsp cinnamon
½ tsp ground cloves
1 cup raw honey
Pour the water into a medium saucepan and add the elderberries, ginger, cinnamon, and cloves.
Bring to a boil and then cover and reduce to a simmer for about 45 minutes to 1 hour until the liquid has reduced by almost half.
Remove from heat and let cool until it is cool enough to be handled.
Mash the berries carefully using a spoon or other flat utensil.
Pour through a strainer into a glass jar or bowl.
Discard the elderberries and let the liquid cool to lukewarm.
When it is no longer hot, add the honey and stir well.
When the honey is well mixed into the elderberry mixture, pour the syrup into a mason jar or 16 ounce glass bottle of some kind.
Voila! Elderberry syrup is made!
#2- A POWERFUL IMMUNE BOOSTING PROBIOTIC!
You might be thinking that probiotics only help digestion issues so why am I saying a probiotic helps boost immunity?
Because probiotics DO help balance the friendly bacteria in your digestive system, but that is not all! So many studies have been done of children and adults that show a GOOD probiotic can not only inhibit the growth of harmful gut bacteria, but in so doing, GOOD probiotics have been shown to promote the production of natural antibodies in the body.
We have immune cells in our body: IgA-producing cells, T lymphocytes and natural killer cells. QUALITY probiotics have shown in tests to promote and boost the production of these important immune cells.
